Diego Vera Jurado
Law degree from the University of Malaga (1983).
Special award for his bachelor’s degree (1985) and special award for his doctorate (1991), with a thesis supervised by Professor Jesús Leguina Villa.
He studied at the Universities of Malaga, Granada and Complutense in Madrid.
Professor of Administrative Law at the University of Malaga.
He has participated in more than thirty national and international research projects. He has extensive experience in advising and transferring administrative law for the European Union, the General State Administration, the Regional Government of Andalusia, local administrations and private entities.
His work in international consulting and training is noteworthy, particularly in Colombia, Peru, Panama, El Salvador, Guatemala, Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, Honduras and Costa Rica, highlighting his participation in the drafting of municipal and decentralisation laws in Honduras, Guatemala and Panama.
A regular contributor to various international networks in the field of public law, he has participated as a speaker in more than two hundred conferences, seminars, workshops, master’s degrees and expert qualifications, both in Spanish and foreign institutions. His main lines of research focus on land use planning, urban planning, the environment, local administration, governance and transparency, public goods, sanctions and financial liability.
Director of the official Master’s Degree in Land Use Planning, Urban Planning and the Environment at the University of Malaga and the Master’s Degree in Juvenile Justice in Honduras. Director of the Institute for Legal Studies in Government and Territory (I-INGOT).
He is also a member of the editorial boards of various specialist journals and publishers, including the Andalusian Journal of Public Administration, the Official State Gazette, the Aragonese Journal of Public Administration, the Ibero-American Journal of Law and Environment, and the Ibero-American Journal of Local Government, among others.
Member of the Clavero Arévalo Institute of Public Law, member of the Social Council of the City of Malaga and Marbella, and of the National Observatory of Environmental Policy.
He has been Director General of the University of Malaga Foundation, Vice-Dean and Secretary of the Faculty of Law, and Director of the Department of Public Law at the University of Malaga. He is also President of the Governing Board of Natural Parks.
His research work has been reflected in more than 150 works, including monographs, collective works, and articles in leading national and international journals.
