Changes introduced by Decree-Law 3/2025 of 21 April to streamline the processing of planning permission applications and boost housing construction

On 22 April 2025, Decree-Law 3/2025 of 21 April, aimed at streamlining the processing of planning permissions and boosting housing construction, was published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands. This regulation sets out urgent measures aimed at addressing excessive and unjustified delays by planning authorities in the processing and granting of planning permission. Furthermore, recognising the link between this situation and the housing crisis affecting the Islands, it amends the relevant regulations and adopts effective measures to boost housing construction.
