The AEAT’s Veri*factu program is now available
The Spanish Tax Agency (AEAT) has made its invoicing application available to taxpayers under the Veri*factu Regulation.
This free electronic invoicing application, which allows taxpayers to generate their invoices electronically and send their invoicing records immediately and directly to the AEAT, is now available on the Tax Agency’s website (https://sede.agenciatributaria.gob.es/Sede/procedimientoini/IZ86.shtml).
The electronic invoicing tool provided by the AEAT is specifically aimed at professionals or entities with a small number of invoices to issue, making it easier for these taxpayers to validate and generate invoices quickly and easily, assigning each invoice a unique registration number and QR code.
This application therefore enables compliance with the requirements imposed by the Regulation governing computerised invoicing systems without the additional cost to the taxpayer of using an external software provider.
Promoted by the Anti-Fraud Law, the Veri*factu system will be mandatory as from 1 January 2026 for companies, and as from 1 July of the same year for all other required parties.
Thus, from next year, companies and self-employed persons will be required to issue their invoices using certified software, generating a single, unalterable and traceable record.
The aim of this invoicing system is to reinforce fiscal transparency and combat fraud, ensuring that any changes are documented by means of a corrective invoice linked to the original one.
